In the final episode of TV5’s “Lakbai” that aired last Sunday, host Baste Duterte and the gang decided on a Cebu getaway with no less than the presidential son’s ex-girlfriend Ellen Adarna as their tour guide.
The adventure travel reality show concluded its six-episode run as Baste and co-hosts Andrei Apostol, Bogart the Explorer, Sboi Malicay and Atty. Alexis Lumbatan allowed the Cebuana actress to take them around the city.
The gang partook of the famous Lechon Cebu and for a fun twist, tried to be lechoneros for a day. Ellen also brought them to her favorite nightspot where they dined, wined and jammed with the band. There was also a thrilling sky diving experience, while Ellen shared a personal moment with Baste and the group as she took them to the Temple of Leah, the shrine built by Ellen’s grandfather as a tribute of love to her grandmother.
A highlight of the episode was, of course, how Ellen and Baste got along. Surprisingly or at least on camera, anyway, the two showed no signs of any animosity towards each other. Ellen, who once again made the Top 10 of this year’s coveted FHM’s 100 Sexiest Women list, talked about Baste during the show’s confessional sessions.
Asked by Atty. Lumbatan what she would want her future husband to build for her. Ellen unhesitatingly replied, “Just love. I’m not materialistic.”
While on the road inside the show’s signature van, Ellen sat beside Baste and sang the Visayan love song, “Atik Ra” with lyrics about someone going after a lover who is running away. Ellen later admitted that it was her song for Baste when they broke up. “That song was the reason why I moved on so fast,” she declared.
Breakup song aside, Ellen and Baste looked and sounded like they were having the time of their lives in each other’s company. “Throwback,” Ellen cracked at one point as he and Baste were having one of their countless light moments throughout the show.
In another confessional, Ellen revealed why she and Baste clicked as a couple and now, as very good friends.
“With Baste, I tell him everything, he tells me everything. He became like a best friend to me. It’s not easy finding a partner who has a personality that jives with you, that you just understand each other,” she said in mostly Filipino.
Even though “Lakbai” has wrapped up its first season, Baste in earlier interviews said he was open to doing more television shows but has ruled out acting as an option.
