He will not respond to the name Charice anymore.
The transgender singer who became a worldwide pop sensation as Charice Pempengco, later shortened to simply Charice, will now be known by a new name: Jake Zyrus.
This is now the name he’s using on his social media pages following a tweet to his nearly one million followers that officially announced the name change.
My first tweet as Jake. Overwhelmed. Saw all your love comments and I'm so happy. Finally. I love you, everyone and see you soon.

In another tweet, Jake expressed his gratitude to the people (presumably media) who have written favorably about him.
I won't let anyone ruin this moment. I won't let anyone ruin my happiness. Thank you to all the beautiful write ups about me.

On Instagram where he has over 129,000 followers, Jake deleted all previous posts as Charice and posted this.
The only thing that has remained unchanged is his official website, the URL of which is still charicemusic.com and still features his past work as Charice.
Although Jake has yet to confirm this, but the name change appears to have been precipitated by his breakup with his girlfriend of four years, fellow singer Alyssa Quijano, last April. With the deletion of his Instagram posts, Jake also erased his past memories with Alyssa, at least on social media.
He has yet to offer any explanation why he chose Jake Zyrus as his new name.
