Four of today’s most promising young celebrities led other famous faces in gracing the
Glam Session at the SM Beauty Section of SM Makati.

Actress singer Alexa Ilacad, makeup artist and digital influencer Gabs Gibbs, actress Sarah Carlos, and actress and TV host Bea Benedicto were among those who gamely tried out the latest makeup trends to further enhance their natural beauty.

Alexa Ilacad has been acting since she was 8 when she was cast as a mainstay of the kiddie gag show, “Goin’ Bulilit.” Since then, Alexa has been very visible on film and television, most recently in the teleserye “Doble Kara” and the film “Everything About Her.”

A scion of the famous Ilacad family that includes her uncle, music and film producer Orly Ilacad of OctoArts Films, Alexa has also released her own solo album and is also known as one half of a popular love team with another former “Goin’ Bulilit” cast member, Nash Aguas.

In a brief interview with InterAksyon, Alexa said that being an Ilacad, she knows a lot is expected of her and she hopes to live up to her family’s name.

Former theater actress Sarah Carlos gained prominence when she won the role of Bea Bianca in the recent remake of the teleserye, “Pangako sa Yo.” She won the part after besting thousands of aspirants during the very competitive auditions for the series.

Playing the arch-rival of Kathryn Bernardo in the TV series is no mean feat. But somehow, Sarah was able to pull it off and in the process turned herself into one of the most recognizable third wheels in recent TV history.

Instead of accepting more projects to sustain her momentum, Sarah opted to go back to school and finish her accountancy course. The fact that she is now making public appearances again suggests that Sarah is ready to pick up where she left off. She certainly added a lot of the “glam” in the SM Glam Session.

There’s also Bea Benedicto, who hosted the event. The niece of former actress Encar Benedicto has rapidly developed her own following with stints in Digital 5 shows like “Tanods” and “Kontrabando.” She was also a cast member of the award-winning Cinema One Originals film “Manang Biring.”

The Information Design major recently completed her college degree so regardless of where her entertainment career will take her, she can always opt to take a different path and explore other professions.

But like the other celebrities that graced the Glam Session and checked out some of the best makeup artists in the country, Bea had a field day at the Cosmetics and Skin section of the beauty store that paraded such brands as Dior, MAC, Clinique, Aveda, Kiehl’s, Glamglow and so much more.

Then there’s also Gabs Gibbs, one of the two daughters of actors Janno Gibbs and Bing Loyzaga. Instead of pursuing a similar career as her parents, Gabs opted to find her niche in the world of makeup.

She developed her own following when she transformed herself into a bearded man in one of her makeup tutorials that went viral. Now she and sister Alyssa have their own YouTube channel. It remains to be seen whether she’ll be interested in performing in the future but, for now, an event like SM’s Glam Session was the perfect venue to showcase her makeup talents.

Gabs was, in fact, just one of over 200 makeup artists in attendance who also received the newly launched SM Beauty PRO-Card, which provides for, among other perks, the purchase of items at the SM Beauty Section at 10 percent discount.

Other celebrities spotted at the event included Tv hosts Phoemela Baranda, Bianca Valerio and Valerie Tan as well as beauty queens Shamcey Supsup, Karla Henry, Kris Tiffany Janson and Hannah Ruth Sison. Among the celebrity makeup artists that also graced the occasion were Fanny Serrano, Jesi Mendez, Jing Monis, Bambbi Fuentes and Jigs Mayuga.
