Although she was rumored to be transferring to another network earlier this year, Jasmine Curtis-Smith remains identified with TV5.

The 23-year-old actress has just completed work on the third season of “Forever Sucks,” her hit web series for D5Studio, TV5’s digital arm. Jasmine will once again reprise her role as Izabel, a 170-year-old vampire pretending to be a normal 21-year-old who works in a call center.

Directed by acclaimed indie filmmaker Joel Ferrer, the comedy series with a supernatural twist has developed a solid following after only two seasons. Although Jasmine’s character is technically an otherworldly being, she is depicted in the series as a normal young millennial who hopes to find the one thing that has eluded her immortal existence: true love.

In the first season, Izabel thought Tony, her call center’s Team Leader who swept her off her feet, was The One. When he broke her heart, Izabel became more cautious but still managed to be attracted to another co-worker in the show’s second season.

But because of her immortality, Izabel remains torn between living in the moment or, in her own words, “choosing unhappiness” if and when Kiko, the present love of her life, dies of natural or other causes.

In a recent interview with InterAksyon, Ferrer revealed that Season 3 will see more characters and more surprising plot twists.

“Most of Izabel’s vampire friends start to show up. Also, someone from Kiko’s past enters the picture. This season will feel like a Valentine’s season dahil sa mga bagong nabubuong love interests,” the director shared.

But even as the show’s plot twists are something that the cast and crew of “Forever Sucks” religiously look forward to, it is only one of the many reasons why he considers the series to be one of the most rewarding projects he has ever been fortunate to be involved with.

Ferrer considers it quite a joyride to work with the show’s crew and cast members that also include Gab Pangilinan, Gio Gahol and Sari Estrada.

“Working with the cast and crew feels like home. It gets easier and easier kasi in sync na lahat ng tao with each other. May chemistry ang buong group which is important in any kind of production,” he added.

“The show’s success is mainly on the chemistry of everybody. From the cast and crew, everybody likes to be there, it’s more than work. And the story is well studied and debated. We don’t want to put out a story that is half baked. We want to push the boundaries of the storytelling, and it’s really good because everyone on the set feels the same way.”

Although nothing is official, Ferrer added that he was already excited about a possible Season 4 should “Forever Sucks” get renewed for another run.

“Hopefully the show will get bigger with the stakes higher and emotions much higher. Of course, we wouldn’t want to stray away from the light narrative we are doing. ‘Forever Sucks’ will remain easy watching but we will definitely have more discussions on the show’s direction if we get to that next point.”

“Forever Sucks” Season 3 premieres on D5Studio next month. Past seasons can also be viewed on YouTube at www.youtube.com/d5studio.
