Radio personality Laila Chikadora announced she will step away from radio broadcasting after more than two decades on air, marking what she described as the “end of an era.”

“For over 25 years, I’ve had the privilege of being a guest in your homes, your cars, and your workplaces. From Monday to Friday, we’ve shared the rhythm of daily life,” the radio DJ said in a Facebook post.

Laila has been a familiar voice to listeners through her nightly program “Shout Out,” airing from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on 105.9 True FM, where she played music and interacted with audiences who tuned in during their daily routines.

“I was the silent witness to your stories through the songs I played—your heartbreaks, your triumphs, and your quiet moments. A lot of you grew old with me. We’ve spent years together, 5 days a week through every season of life,” she said.

She added that her connection with listeners went beyond broadcasting.

“But here’s what you might not know: You weren’t just listeners to me. You were my companions. You have been a massive part of my life, and you kept me going more than you’ll ever know,” she said.

Reflecting on her career, Laila said radio never felt isolating despite its format.

“They say radio is a one-way street, but I never felt alone because of you. You’ve been the heartbeat behind every broadcast,” she said.

She said her final week on air would serve as a send-off with her audience.

“This is my final week on the airwaves. Samahan niyo ako sa huling limang araw ko sa radyo. Let’s look back, share a few laughs, and maybe shed a tear or two. This is our final countdown,” she said.

“Sa huling pagkakataon… mag-ingay tayo!” she added.

Laila invited listeners to tune in to her last broadcasts of “Shout Out,” calling it “an honor being your daily staple” over the years.

Several listeners said they will miss the beloved radio personality on air.

“Mamimis ko yung halakhak mo sa radio,” a Facebook user said.

“Parang di ako ready sa finale week mo, ate. Kung tutuusin, lumalaki kami kasabay ng inyong pag-iingay sa ere na puno ng good vibes. At sinunod namin ang extros mong ‘do one good deed a day and repeat everyday,'” one commented.

“Oh oh!! Naku, ma miss ng madlang pipol ang ingay ng boses mo??!!” another wrote.

“Salamat sa serbisyo mo! Makailang beses mo ko na guest sa program mo na nakakaaliw! Love love ka namin!!!” a Facebook user wrote.

“You are like sunshine on a bleak Sunday morning! Cheers to the new chapter ahead!” another commented.

Personalities and staff who guested on and worked on Laila’s radio show also expressed their thanks to her.

“I have the privilege to be a guest in your show, not once but twice. Thank you for having me and for the fun memories,” Edmund Lee wrote.

Asked about her next steps, Laila said she is stepping away from radio but will continue her television work. She remains an entertainment reporter and hosts programs for News5.
“TV meron pa. Face To Face with Ate Koring and Gud Morning Kapatid also News5,” she responded to a Facebook user, tagging her shows.

Laila started her radio career in 2001.
