Actress and former Viva Hot Babes member Andrea del Rosario reminded the public to be cautious about using false eyelashes after undergoing eye surgery.
On March 6, the showbiz personality shared a photo of herself with bandages, accompanied by hashtags including “#minorsurgery,” “#stye,” “#cleanyourbrushes,” “#notofakeLashes,” “#fornow” and “#becarefulwithfalselashes.”
“Ouch!!!” the actress wrote as a caption.
The actress shared more details about her condition in a video, revealing that she underwent eye surgery to remove a stye or “kuliti.”
Andrea explained that since the stye had gone away on its own, she decided to have it surgically removed.
“I’ve been using a lot of makeup and false lashes. I’ve been drinking a lot of antibiotics pero hindi pa rin siya [kuliti] humuhupa, so I need to have it surgically removed,” she said.
The actress shared that her stye was caused by improper use of false eyelashes and advised people to clean their makeup brushes regularly to prevent bacteria buildup.
“Lesson of the day: Do not use dirty brushes, and when you use your fake lashes, remove it at night; don’t sleep with it, which I did,” Andrea said in her video.
Experts recommend removing all makeup before going to bed to prevent breakouts, dry skin, eye irritation and other potential issues.
A stye is a painful bump on the edge of the eyelid that forms when a blocked oil gland near the eyelashes becomes infected with bacteria.
Treatment may include draining, antibiotics, or steroid injections.
Experts say styes can be prevented by avoiding touching the eyes with unwashed hands and washing pillowcases regularly to reduce bacterial buildup.
