Actress-host Anne Curtis said that she did not intend for her viral response to an online user about not watching her upcoming movie to come across as standoffish.
At a media conference for “The Loved One,” the showbiz personality explained that her “‘di ‘wag kang manood” comment to an online user was simply her candid self.
“Medyo Taglish dito. Medyo may English-English. Kaya kung ayaw ninyo, edi, ‘wag kayo manood,” Anne said.
“Honestly, that wasn’t meant to blow up how it did. Parang, kunwari, si Vice (Ganda),” she added.
“Kunwari si Vice ‘yung kausap ko at sinabi niya, ‘Ano ba ‘yung movie niyo? Puro English.’ Ganun ko rin naman siya sasagutin. It wasn’t meant to be, like, a pataray. Parang ganun lang ‘yun,” the actress said, referring to her co-host on “It’s Showtime.”
Anne also said that like everyone else, she has her “off days” too.
“Alam mo, minsan nasa ganun akong lugar na ngayon, baka hindi maganda gising ko. But that’s okay. Sometimes, we have our days, and that day was my day. So, tao lang naman tayo,” she said.
The actress previously made headlines for clapping back at an online user who criticized “The Loved One’s” trailer for featuring characters speaking in English.
At the time, Anne was promoting the movie by sharing its trailer on X (formerly Twitter).
“Kaka-irita, English, English ang mga dialogue,” an X user wrote in a now-deleted comment.
“‘Di ‘wag ka manood,” the actress responded.
Her reply drew the attention of Filipinos, with some supporting Anne amid the negative comment.
“HAHAHAHA, nakuha ‘yung pika ni Ms. Anne,” an online user said before.
Anne stars alongside Jericho Rosales in Irene Villamor’s “The Loved One,” which tells the story of former lovers who reconnect a decade later to “trace the memories of a love and sorrow that never went away.”
The film also marks Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray‘s acting debut.
