Former “Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition” housemate Shuvee Etrata spoke out on social media on Tuesday, September 23, after an old video resurfaced featuring her comments on the arrest of former president Rodrigo Duterte.

In the resurfaced video circulating online, taken in March, Shuvee said she cried after Duterte’s arrest, explaining that she pitied him as she is an “empath.”

The video resurfaced amid ongoing calls for accountability from government officials who have wronged the nation, prompting many to criticize Shuvee’s political stance.

In response to the backlash, Shuvee expressed gratitude to her supporters and apologized, acknowledging that her past remarks “caused hurt to some.” She took responsibility for her words, saying she has since grown and learned from the experience.

“I’m deeply grateful for the support many of you have shown. Bago lang po lahat to sa akin. Kaya pasensya na po sa lahat ng na-disappoint at nasaktan ko,” Shuvee said.

The Kapuso actress explained that she avoids divisive political talk and instead chooses to focus on “mahalin ang bayan at manindigan laban sa sumisira nito tulad ng korapsyon.”

“Huwag po kayong mag alala, natuto na po ako. Lalawakan ko pa po ang pag-iisip ko para sa ating lahat. I will continue to learn and grow,” the “It’s Showtime” host said.

“Mahal ko po kayo at mahal ko ang Pilipinas lalo na sa panahon ngayon.
I stand for and with the Filipino people-always,” she concluded.

Prior to this, Shuvee had expressed support for anti-corruption protests in the country.

On Sunday, September 21, several Filipinos took to the streets to protest government corruption amid allegations of anomalies in flood control projects.
