Kapuso actors David Licauco and Jak Roberto earned buzz after appearing in the same costume for GMA Network’s 2023 Sparkle Spell Halloween Party on Sunday.
The “Pambansang Ginoo” and the “anti-silos (selos) professor” both attended as Roronoa Zoro, also known as “Pirate Hunter” Zoro, from the “One Piece” series, which has a live adaptation on Netflix.
In the live adaptation, Zoro is played by California-born Japanese actor Mackenyu Arata.

Jak posed for the “black carpet” by holding two swords.
Meanwhile, David was pictured with a sword hanging by his side.
Jak posted a clip where he was seen doing poses while David shared close-up shots of his costume.

There were also other Sparkle artists who came as Zoro, like Sandro Muhlach and Anthony Rosaldo.
However, David and Jak caught the attention of the public since both are associated with fellow Sparkle artist Barbie Forteza.

David is known for his pairing with the actress in the hit “Maria Clara at Ibarra” (MCAI) series, where he played Fidel de los Reyes, the love interest of Barbie’s character Klay Infantes.
Fans called their onscreen tandem FiLay, but they continue to be paired following the series’ conclusion due to their popularity as a love team. Outside the MCAI world, their pairing is known as BarDa, a portmanteau of their real names.
In real life, however, Barbie is dating Jak, with whom she has been in a relationship since 2017.
Their tandem is known as JakBie, also a portmanteau of their first names.
David and Jak’s similar Halloween costumes earned various comments from the public.
Others compared how the two fared in their looks.
“Sa buhok, mas malapit ‘yung kay Jak sa live action actor ni Zoro. Sa overall outfit naman, si David. So in short, wala tayong winner tonight para walang away hahahaha,” a user on the X (formerly Twitter) platform wrote.
“Pero [medyo] kuhang kuha ni Jak Roberto ‘yung buhok and ‘yung pagka-manlier like Mackenyu. Ma-visual nga lang si David Licauco and mas maraming fans kaya nag-trend as Zoro,” another user wrote.
While some wondered if it was intentional or not.
“Coincidence kaya o planado?” a Pinoy commented with a thinking face emoji.
There are no comments from the two actors yet on whether or not they intended to go as the same character in the Halloween Party.
David’s costume was created by Chynna Mamawal, with the styling done by David Milan.
Jak, meanwhile, donned an outfit by designer Mark Dela Peña. He was groomed by makeup artist Fatima Mercado.
Barbie, on the other hand, went as Khaleesi Daenerys Targaryen from the fantasy series “Game of Thrones.”
The theme of this year’s Sparkle Spell Halloween Party was “Fabulously Frightening.”
Other personalities who attended include Kyline Alcantara, Julie Ann San Jose, Rayver Cruz, Jillian Ward, Ken Chan, Derrick Monasterio, Myrtle Sarrosa, Kokoy de Santos and Miguel Tanfelix, among others.
