Actress Maymay Entrata recalled her earlier days as a fangirl when she was among those joining the crowd to see the KathNiel tandem live in Cagayan de Oro eight years ago.

The “Pinoy Big Brother” alum on Tuesday responded to a picture posted by a fan who claimed that the tandem posed with the crowd at that time.

Maymay saw the image and quote tweeted: “OMGGGG!!! ITO ‘YUNG BINATUKAN AKO NG PAYONG KASI SUMISINGIT AKO, MAKITA LANG KAYO!! Waah goosebumps, bai!”

“Bai” means “friend” in Cebuano.

The actress’ quote tweet has earned a whopping 17,000 likes and more than 800 retweets so far.

A Facebook page dedicated to sharing Kapamilya network-related updates posted the picture in 2021, claiming it was taken during a mall show where Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla guested in 2014.

The page claimed that the event happened in Cagayan de Oro, where Maymay grew up.

“One of KathNiel’s most iconic mall shows happened in CDO last August 2014. Crowd estimate: 300,000 people,” it said.

An earlier version of the picture was posted during the same period by digital creator Jenefer Tusan Lazo.

It did not have any caption but Lazo claimed it was taken at SM City Cagayan de Oro.

The KathNiel tandem traces its story back to 2011 when the two appeared in the teen drama series “Growing Up.”

They eventually appeared in several Star Cinema movies together. One of these was the film adaptation of Wattpad hit “She’s Dating the Gangster,” released a month before the CDO mall show.

At that time, Maymay was still an ordinary fan but was already eyeing auditions.

Two years after the Kathryn mall show, she landed as a contestant in “Pinoy Big Brother: Lucky 7,” where she eventually emerged as the winner after 235 days.

In 2019, Maymay admitted that she is still a big KathNiel fan despite working in the same industry as them.

“Worth it ‘yung payong na dinutdot nung babae sa ulo ko dahil nakisingit ako para makita ko lang kayo ng kahit 10 meters away!” she wrote in Instagram before, recalling her early fangirl days.

“Ang paghanga ko noon hanggang ngayon ay walang kupas, lalo na’t binigyan [niyo] ko ng pagkakataon na kilalanin kayo hindi bilang artists, kundi ‘yung ‘Kayo,'” Maymay added.
