Celebrity cosmetic surgeon Vicki Belo shared her battle with breast cancer in an interview with Korina Sanchez.
The doctor was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer in 2016.
Belo sought treatments in Europe and shared how doctors told her about the possibility that she would die.
“‘Don’t bother to have chemo. Don’t bother, just fix your affairs, you’re dead in two years,'” Belo was advised.
She also went to New York Presbyterian, where health experts were likewise uncertain if she would survive.
Scarlet’s role in Vicki’s life
While many people do not know that Belo had cancer a few years ago, she continued to make public appearances. She shared that one of her interviews with CNN was held two days after receiving chemotherapy.
“You know when you have your chemo, you’re green, you’re basically green, you look so sick,” Belo said.
“While I was having my interview, hair was falling on the fall,” she added.
Belo said she could not concentrate during the interview. The hosts asked her about her plans which she could not answer.
“If you have cancer kasi wala kang plans, you just want to get well,” Belo said.
“I don’t plan because I don’t know if I’ll gonna be alive or not and they (health experts) told me na I’m gonna be dead,” she continued.
The question that caught her off guard led to the announcement that she and her husband Hayden Kho has a daughter named Scarlet, who was one year old at that time.
“I didn’t know what to say, gusto ko yung attention mawala sa akin. We weren’t planning to say anything,” the celebrity doctor said.
Belo said what keeps her going is her Scarlet.
“I really look at her, and I want to be with her, and I don’t want to leave her naman so young,” Belo said.
“I keep praying, Lord, ‘please give me time,” she added.
This is why Belo said she prioritizes her health and well-being.
“Nakikita niyo yung Instagram, akala niyo yung life namin perfect. Wala talagang perfect na buhay. Lagi niyong hanapin yung ganda sa buhay niyo. Health is wealth, so now that’s really my thing,” Belo concluded.
Belo is reportedly cancer-free while her child Scarlet just turned seven in March this year.
She has recently made headlines for her glam and Kpop inspired looks.
