Harry Styles plays the lead role in the movie “Don’t Worry Darling” directed by actress-turned-filmmaker Olivia Wilde.
The film follows the couple Alice (Florence Pugh) and Jack (Harry Styles), who live in the idealized community of Victory. The experimental town housing serves as a home for employees of the top-secret Victory Project and their families.
While the husbands work on the “development of progressive materials” in isolated headquarters in the middle of the desert, the wives, like Alice, spend their time drinking cocktails near the pool surrounded by palm springs.
“But when cracks in their idyllic life begin to appear, exposing flashes of something much more sinister lurking beneath the attractive facade, Alice can’t help questioning exactly what they’re doing in Victory, and why,” the synopsis reads.
For Styles, Victory represents the world of people living in bubbles—detached from the realities of society.
“Victory represents the sheltered kind of life that allows you to stay in your ultimate comfort zone. You can ignore all the problems in the world, and some people are okay with that. I think for everyone, it’s a safe, easy, comfortable little bubble,” Styles said.
“They think everything’s perfect, but the world isn’t like that. It has consequences,” the actor continued.
“People inside those kinds of bubbles, they don’t want to know about the consequences. I think that’s what Victory represents—a willingness to be ignorant to the rest of the world.” Styles added.
Aside from Pugh and Styles, the film features Chris Pine, Nick Kroll, Sydney Chandler, Kate Berlant, Asif Ali, Douglas Smith, Timothy Simons, and Ari’el Stachel.
The dystopian film premieres on September 28 in cinemas across the country.
