China and Bahrain finished with 12 gold medals each at the end of the athletics programme in Jakarta on Thursday.

Bahrain women claim relay gold
Bahrain claimed its 10th gold medal of the meet after winning the women’s 4×100 meters relay. Iman Essa, Edidiong Odiong, Hajar Alkhaldi and Salwa Naser combined to cross the line in 42.73 seconds, a new Games record.
Hashimoto defends omnium crown
Eiya Hashimoto of Japan collected a total of 119 points to clinch his second consecutive Asiad gold in men’s track cycling omnium, finishing ahead of Hong Kong’s Leung Chun Wing.
China’s Liu wins trampoline gymnastics gold
China’s Liu Lingling won gold with a score of 55.270, while compatriot Zhu Shouli took bronze in the women’s trampoline gymnastics final.
Japan’s Hikaru Mori separated the Chinese pair with a score of 53.735.
Taiwan shock South Korea in soft tennis doubles
Taiwanese duo Yu Kai-wen and Cheng Chu-ling soared to a surprise 5-3 win over favorites South Korea in the soft tennis mixed doubles final.
The defeat marked the first time South Korea lost the mixed doubles gold medal match at the Games, having won the event on the previous four occasions.
Unified Korean team progress to basketball final
The unified Korean team beat Taiwan 89-66 in their women’s 5×5 basketball semi-final to progress to the title game against China, who beat Japan 86-74 to advance.
The 60-strong unified team have already won a gold and two bronze medals in dragon boat racing and are guaranteed to add to their overall tally in Saturday‘s final.
China clinches another canoeing gold
Chinese duo Wang Hao and Liu Hao won the final canoe event of the day, topping the men’s C2 1000m race with a time of three minutes, 39.825 seconds.
Kazakhstan won silver, while Uzbekistan settled for bronze.
Japan’s Katsuki secures 50km walk triumph
Japan’s Hayato Katsuki sealed the gold medal in the men’s 5kilometerre walk, while China’s Wang Qin took silver and South Korean Joo Hyun-myeong won bronze.
Katsuki recorded a time of four hours, three minutes and 30 seconds after he overhauled team mate Satoshi Maruo, who led for a majority of the race but faded to finish fourth.
Uzbekistan, ChiKazakhstanstan grab canoe/kayak golds
Uzbekistan’s Vadim Menkov won the men’s C1 1000 meter canoe race in a time of four minutes, 05.224 seconds, ahead of Tajikistan’s Shahriyor Daminov and Iranian Mohammad Nabi Rezaei.
Earlier on Thursday, Chinese duo Ma Yanan and Sun Mengya won the women’s C2 500m canoe race in two minutes, 02.512 seconds. The Uzbekistan team took silver, while Indonesia won bronze.
Kazakhstan clinched gold in the men’s Kayak Four 500m race, followed by South Korea and Iran.
Action begins on day 13
Athletics and diving take center stage, while other sports, including track cycling, handball and table tennis are also on the schedule on the 13th day of the 18th Asian Games.
A partially sunny day in Jakarta, with the temperature around 32 degrees Celsius (89F), also plays host to judo and kurash finals.
