BTS breaks own record for fastest 100 million views with ‘IDOL’ music video

Korean group BTS is on fire with their latest music video titled “IDOL” which has been viewed over 100 million times on YouTube in record-breaking time since its release.

The music video was uploaded on the video-sharing platform on August 24 and has since reached the 100 million mark after four days. It is currently on YouTube Philippine’s trending videos list.

According to reports, the group’s music video has beat the record “for the fastest K-pop group music video to achieve the feat.”

Previously, it was their “Fake Love” music video that held the record, which reached the 100 million mark eight days after its release.

Apparently, “IDOL” is their 14th music video to reach the 100 million mark in the video-sharing platform.

Filipino fans expressed their support and amazement over BTS’ new record on the internet.

The group also had a remix of the song that featured American rapper Nicki Minaj. Like the original version, it has also gained a staggering amount of play count in YouTube.

BTS or Bangtan Boys is a seven-member Korean group that consists of RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, V, Jimin and Jungkook. They were formed through auditions held by Big Hit Entertainment in 2010 and 2011.

By 2012, the group was finalized in 2013, they debuted in the music scene with their album “2 Cool 4 Skool.”

The album featured their award-winning song “No More Dream” that cemented them as one of the artists to watch out for in the Korean music industry.

Eventually, they released more albums that secured them spots in the United States’ Billboard 200 — “The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Part Two” and “The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever.”

By 2016, they reached number 26 on Billboard 200 for their album “Wings.” It was considered the highest chart ranking for a K-pop album. It also became their first “million seller” album.

BTS gained more prominence after that, subsequently earning recognition from the Recording Industry Association of America for their songs “DNA” and “Mic Drop.”

They have since sold around seven million albums worldwide after their debut in the music scene.

Their latest album, “Love Yourself: Tear,” has reached the top of Billboard 200. Reports note that it is the first K-pop album to become number one in the U.S. album charts.

According to Billboard, BTS is the most tweeted-about musician in the U.S. last year. They are followed by SEVENTEEN, another K-pop group. Other famous musicians on the list are Fifth Harmony, Harry Styles and Justin Bieber.
