JAKARTA — Highlights of day six of the 18th Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang on Thursday (times GMT):
Victories in wushu and rowing events extended China’s lead at the top of the medal table, while Japan continued their impressive run in the swimming competitions to retain second spot.

Ikee grabs fifth gold
Japanese swimmer Rikako Ikee won her fifth gold medal of the games, winning the women’s 4×100-meter medley relay along with Natsumi Sakai, Satomi Suzuki and Tomomi Aoki.
Xu completes backstroke sweep
China’s Xu Jiayu won the men’s 200 metres backstroke, clocking 1:53:99 to finish ahead of Japan’s defending champion Ryosuke Irie.
Xu becomes the first athlete to claim gold in all three backstroke events at a single Asian Games after victories in 50m and 100m events earlier this week.
Suzuki defends breaststroke title
Japanese swimmer Satomi Suzuki defended her 50 meters breaststroke title, clocking a Games record time of 30.83 seconds.
Schoolings bags second gold
Singapore’s Olympic champion Joseph Schooling clinched his second gold medal of the Games after winning the 50 meters butterfly final.
The 23-year-old is still the only swimmer not from Japan or China to win gold in Jakarta.
Gold rush for South Korea
South Korean gymnast Kim Han-sol won the gold medal in the men’s floor exercise, giving the country its first Asiad gold in the event.
Triple world taekwondo champion Lee Dae-hoon claimed his third straight Asian Games gold, beating Amirmohammad Bakhshikalhori of Iran 12-10 in the men’s 68kg final.
Shin Hyun-woo ensured South Korea recorded a first shooting gold of the meet after he scored 74 points to finish first in the men’s double trap final.
Li on target in women’s double trap
Shooter Li Qingnian repeated her feat from the 2010 Games by winning the women’s double trap competition. Bai Yiting took silver to make it a one-two finish for China.
Lutsenko cycles to gold in road race
Kazakh rider Alexey Lutsenko won gold in the men’s road race, staving off a strong challenge from Japan’s Fumiyuki Beppu and Thailand’s Navuti Liphongyu who won silver and bronze.
Lutsenko, who rides for the Astana Pro team, finished the 150km race in three hours, 25.25 minutes.
Vietnam, Hong Kong open gold medal account
Jacqueline Siu Wing-ying claimed Hong Kong’s first gold of the Games by winning the equestrian individual dressage event, while Vietnam also earned their first gold through the women’s rowing team’s success in the lightweight quadruple sculls.
China continue wushu dominance
China’s Li Mengfan claimed the gold medal in the wushu men’s sanda 65kg category, while in the women’s category, Li Yueyao won the 52 kg event and Cai Yingying took gold in the 60kg competition.
China win gold in rowing
China claimed their first gold medals of the day in rowing as Zhang Liang won the men’s single sculls while Chen Yunxia took the top prize in the women’s competition.
