On the day of President Rodrigo Duterte’s third State of the Nation Address, parody Twitter account @MalacananEvents shared a drinking game that can be played with friends while watching the chief executive deliver his speech.

The account joked that people should “take a shot,” “drink” and “finish (their) drink” whenever the president said specific words in his speech:

Duterte is known for hurling expletives in his past SONAs and public speeches.

According to the parody account, this year’s expected topics are talks on federalism, human rights, China, peace talks and corruption.

He is also expected to “insult Leni” and talk about the Dengvaxia controversy. The account added that people should “finish (their) drink” if they spot Bong Go and Sara Duterte-Carpio onscreen.

The Filipino’s drinking nature

Several Twitter users welcomed the challenge with amusement.

This is not a surprise since Filipinos are generally known to drink in social occasions. In fact, there’s a term for it — inuman — and it pertains to a drinking session during parties, fiestas, celebrations and even simple get-togethers.

Philippine Primer noted that different factors play into this drinking culture. The country is well-known for producing lambanog, tuba and basi, liquors that are rurally produced and exported.

Philippines is also noted for various pulutans or finger food meant to accompany liquor like sisig, crispy pata or peanuts.
