MANILA, Philippines — Kuwaiti police recently found a body of a woman believed to be a Filipino household worker in the freezer of an apartment in Salmiya, a city area in the Gulf state’s Hawalli Governorate, according to a report by the Kuwait Times.

The report said authorities were able to enter the flat through a court order. The apartment has been closed since its renters — a Lebanese man and his Syrian wife — left Kuwait in November 2016.

Allegedly found in the woman’s remains were stab wounds in her neck and torture marks all over her body. The renters of the flat were reportedly eyed as among the prime suspects.

Kuwaiti Times said it had recently contacted Philippine Ambassador to Kuwait Rene Villa, who reportedly told the daily that is office was coordinating with authorities and “while there is such a report, we are sure about the nationality (of the fatality).”

President Rodrigo Duterte recently ordered a suspension on the deployment of Filipino workers in Kuwait, following the death of seven Filipinos in the Gulf state.
