MANILA – The “degradation of the runway surface” at the Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport in Tacloban City has forced the cancellation, starting Wednesday afternoon, of Cebu Pacific and Cebgo flights to and from Leyte’s capital.

“Repairs to the runway conducted by the airport authority have been hampered by ongoing poor weather, a Cebu Pacific advisory said.

Cebu Pacific and Cebgo flights “will resume as soon as ongoing repairs return the runway surface to a suitable condition which no longer poses a risk to the safety of our flights,” the advisory added.

The following flights to and from Tacloban are cancelled starting January 17, 2018:

Flight Route ETD ETA
5J 653 Manila-Tacloban 335pm 510pm
5J 654 Tacloban-Manila 540pm 710pm

Cebu Pacific and Cebgo flights to and from Tacloban starting Thursday may also be affected as further repairs are scheduled. The leading low-cost airline advised the public to monitor its website, Facebook page or Twitter account for further details as they become available.

Affected passengers traveling on these dates will be informed, and have the following options:
• Re-route to the nearest alternate airports
• Rebook at a later travel date within 30 days, free of charge
• Get a full refund
• Place the cost of the ticket in a Travel Fund for future use

Affected passengers with concerns and inquiries were advised to contact the Cebu Pacific hotline at +632 7020-888. They may also message the official Cebu Pacific Facebook (facebook.com/cebupacificair) or Twitter (@CebuPacificAir) accounts. Guests who booked through a travel agent or any other third party were asked to provide the airline with their own contact details so they can be advised directly for any flight changes.
