MANILA – The Commission on Elections en banc has ruled on the sufficiency of the recall petition lodged against San Juan City Mayor Guia Gomez, Comelec spokesman James Jimenez said Wednesday.

“However, a three-day period for the filing of Motions for Reconsideration has been given to the parties,” he added.

“Further announcements will be made, after the resolution of any such Motion, or the expiration of the said period, whichever comes later,” said Jimenez.

The recall petition was filed in May this year by supporters of former Vice Mayor Francis Zamora, whom Gomez defeated in the May 2016 elections.

They submitted to Comelec a petition they claimed was signed by 30,000 San Juan residents, alleging “graft and corruption, incompetence, abuse of power and dereliction of duty” against Gomez, who is serving her last term as mayor.
