MANILA, Philippines — Maynilad Water Services Inc. will be increasing its basic rate by P0.97 per cubic meter in January.
A statement from the firm said the average basic rate adjustment amounts to 2.8 percent of the P34.51 per cubic meter average basic charge in 2017.
Maynilad was also granted a 0.6 percent foreign currency differential adjustment by the Manila Waterworks and Sewerage System, based on the approved 2018 average basic charge of P35.48 per cubic meter.
The FCDA is a mechanism granted to utilities to recover losses or return gains from fluctuations of the peso against other currencies.
With the new rate, customers consuming 10 cubic meters or less should expect a bill of P121.65 from the previous P118.95, or an increase of P2.70.
Those consuming 20 cubic meters, meanwhile, will be charged P455.74 from P445.56, a difference of P10.18.
Households consuming 30 cubic meters a month will be billed P930.32, up from P909.54.
Maynilad covers the West Zone of the Greater Manila Area: Manila, Quezon City, Makati, Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon.
It also serves the cities of Cavite, Bacoor and Imus, and the towns of Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario.
