MANILA, Philippines — Filipinos remain optimistic about their quality of life and the Philippine economy under the Duterte administration, according to the results of a poll conducted by the Social Weather Stations (SWS) released on Wednesday, December 13.
The survey, conducted from Sept. 23 to 27, 2017, found that 47 percent of Filipino adults expect their lives to improve in the next 12 months, while only 4 percent are expecting their lives to get worse, resulting in a net personal optimism of +42.
The September 2017 net optimism, which is 2 points higher than the +40 in June 2017, is classified by SWS as “excellent.”
Also, the poll found that 43 percent of Filipino adults are also optimistic about the Philippine economy in general, confident that it “would get better” next year, while only 12 percent think it would “deteriorate,” equivalent to a net optimism about the economy of +30, which is also classified by SWS as excellent.
This is 3 points higher than the +27 net optimism about the economy in June 2017.
On the change in personal quality of life compared to 12 months ago, 39 percent of Filipino adults said their lives improved, while 19 percent said their lives worsened, resulting in a “record-high” net gainers score of +19.
This is 2 points above the net gainers score of +17 in June 2017 and similar to the net score recorded in September 2016.
