TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines — Cagayan Governor Manuel Mamba ordered the suspension of classes on all levels in both private and public schools in the province on Tuesday because of the floods and unabated rains brought by the northeast monsoon or amihan.
As of Monday, at least 100 persons in Tuguegarao City were evacuated to East Elementary School in Barangay Annafunan, Barangay Centro 10 gymnasium and Barangay Centro 11’s Apostol Building.
Dante Balao, regional director of the Office Civil Defense in Cagayan Valley, said 17 bridges remained impassable due to swollen rivers and two roads were closed.
He advised those living in low-lying areas to be on alert and to take all the necessary precautions against flashfloods and landslides.
Philippine Airline’s Manila-Basco-Manila flights and Cebu Pacific’s Manila-Tugugerao-Manila flights were also canceled on Monday. Flights have been canceled since November 3.
In Ramon, Isabela, the Magat Dam’s reservoir inflow was at 1,604 cubic meters per second , raising its water level to 189.53 meters or 3.47 meters short of its critical and spilling level. Outflow is at 308 CMS.
