The University of the Philippines Junior Finance Association (UPJFA) will be holding the second run of its Return on Investment (ROI) finance summit, themed “Gain the Edge”, on November 11 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the UP Diliman National Institute of Physics Auditorium.

Some 300 senior high school students will learn about investing, entrepreneurship and career planning, through workshops on topics ranging from basic valuation methods to investing in the stock market.

Speakers include Engr. Willy Tee Ten, the president of multi-brand automotive dealership The Autohub Group of Companies; Miko Sayo, the founder of Tsupitero.com, a website created to impart knowledge on Technical Analysis (the study of patterns in stock price movements, with the objective of profiting through stock trading and market timing) in the Philippine stock market; and Mark Ilao, a business development officer of the country’s largest online brokerage firm COL Financial Group, Inc.

Participants will also get to take part in the Pru Life Financial Quotient Game, “a fun and exciting approach to learning personal finance, budgeting, saving, investing, and more,” according to a press release from UPJFA.

“Through ROI, we hope to start the wave of a more financially literate generation that will help build the nation,” UPJFA said.

The organization “prides itself in forming student-leaders who are driven to make professional, sustainable, and impactful decisions in using finance as a tool for nation-building.”

“We develop finance professionals by being the hub for effective education, competitions, and opportunities for multifaceted growth,” it added.

ROI is just one of the projects it has lined up in the past years to enhance participants’ financial knowledge.

Participants will gain an alternative learning experience while building their network with other student-leaders, as well as the speakers.
