MANILA – Ambassador-designate Koji Haneda presented to President Rodrigo Duterte the credentials as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of the Philippines at Malacañang Palace on October 25 2017.
Ambassador Haneda disclosed that he started his career as a young diplomat in the 1980s – in the Philippines, thus making him a “Balikbayan”.
President Rodrigo Duterte is to arrive in Tokyo, the Japanese capital, this Monday morning for an official visit lasting two days.
Duterte departs from Davao late Sunday evening and is expected to arrive at around after midnight at Haneda airport.
During the visit, President Duterte is to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, had just clinched landslide victory in a snap election exercise.
