BAGUIO CITY – Department of Justice (DOJ) Assistant Secretary Cheryl Daytec-Yañgot has described as irreconcilable the claim of President Rodrigo Duterte that the reds (communists) and the yellow (the Liberal Party) are aligning themselves to oust him.

In a post Thursday, October 5, on her Facebook account, Yañgot said: “I cannot imagine how this could be possible … the Left allying with the Liberal Party whose top rock star Noynoy Aquino was the father of Oplan Bantay-Laya, under which many activists were killed, disappeared, tortured, and/or harassed.”

The Facebook status update was led off by the word IRRECONCILABLE, spelled in all-capital letters.

She elaborated that Oplan Bantay-Laya “presided over the devastation of many indigenous communities whose territories were intruded into by private interests with the facilitation of the Aquino dispensation.”

Assistant Sec. Yañgot was a member of the National Union of Peoples Lawyers before being appointed to her current position in November 2016. She is also a member of the Reciprocal Working Group on Political and Constitutional Reforms under the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process negotiating peace with the National Democratic Front of the Philippines.

“I cannot imagine the Left, which champions genuine agrarian reform and national industrialization, forging an alliance with the Liberal Party, which mainly operates to consolidate land ownership in a few rent-seekers and corporations and seeks to further liberalize the economy.

“I cannot imagine the Reds allying with the Yellows when their ideologies are substantially irreconcilable.

“While the Reds desire systemic and fundamental change, the Yellows simply want to grab power to further protect the interests of the oligarchy with whom they have been sleeping since the oligarchy seeks its own class and minions.

“While the Reds are against US hegemony over Philippine affairs, the Yellows think the US is GGP (God’s Gift to the Philippines).

“I cannot imagine how this could be possible,” she concluded in her Facebook post.
