MANILA – Two lawyers have written the Supreme Court seeking to expedite action on a disbarment complaint they filed against Atty. Larry Gadon, who had earlier filed an impeachment complaint against Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.
In their letter to Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio, lawyers Algamar Latiph and Musa Malayang said it had been more than a year since the Supreme Court directed Gadon to comment on their disbarment complaint.
The complaint was filed April 6, 2016 but until now Gadon has not replied to the SC order for him to comment.
The complainants asked the SC if the disbarment case is now deemed submitted for resolution in light of Gadon’s failure to submit his comment as directed.
The disbarment complaint accused Gadon of violating Canon 1, Canon 7 and the lawyers’ code of professional responsibility.
The case arose from a hate comment Gadon made against Muslims during the 2016 campaign when he ran for senator.
Gadon said then he would “pulverize” the Muslims if they do not cooperate with government in resolving the decades-long insurgency and various acts of rebellion in the South.
