MANILA – The Supreme Court has suspended work in all courts nationwide on Thursday, Sept. 21, following a Palace proclamation on work and class suspensions in Executive branch agencies and in public schools.
In an advisory, the high tribunal, through SC spokesperson Atty. Theodore Te, said the Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio “ordered the suspension of work in all courts” in his capacity as the Acting Chief Justice.
The SC order gave as basis for the suspension the fact that “up to 70 percent of courts nationwide are housed in structures owned by local government units,” adding these will “thus be affected by the declaration of work suspension in the Executive branch.”
Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno is “on scheduled wellness leave.”
