(UPDATE – 9:45 p.m.) MANILA – Michael Angelo Remicio, the 16-year-old Caloocan boy found dead in Bulacan after going missing for two weeks, was laid to rest Sunday morning as police took custody of two of five suspects in his killing.
Parents of Remicio, who was buried at the Tala Cemetery in Caloocan City, are seeking justice for him.
His mother Genevie had earlier filed charges against a suspect taken by Caloocan police Saturday night.
Alexander Sinogat alias Nonoy, 22, told police he and another suspect, identified only as alias Joshua, stabbed Remicio while three of their drinking companions served as lookout: An Alias Mamo, Alias Jonel and a 14-year-old known as Alias Nano.
According to Sinogat, their group was drinking in Bagong Silang when an apparently drunk Remicio arrived about 4am with a bottle of liquor and started badgering them.
“Nangungulit, sa mga kaibigan sa mga tropa ko na napatambay sa amin, kahit sino na lang po pinag ti-tripan niya [Remicio kept bugging everyone – my friends and anyone he fancied there].”
And, because they themselves were also drunk, Sinogat said he and his friends lured Remicio to a vacant house where Joshua attacked him as Sinogat pinned him down.
“Nung nangyari po yun, lasing po ako nun kaya nagawa namin yung ganung bagay [When it happened, we were very drunk that’s why we were able to do it],” Sinogat said.
When they sensed that Remicio was dead, they covered his body with trash and waited for nightfall, when Joshua tried to put him in a sack, Sinogat added.
However, the body would not fit in the sack, so they tied it up with wire before stuffing it again into the sack.
They then threw the body into a creek, and parted ways.
However, when the news broke that Remicio’s body had been found, Sinogat said he got scared and decided to surrender.
Sinogat said he and Remicio had been friends for a long time, and usually met up at the terminal for tricycles.
Sinogat begged the boy’s family for forgiveness, vowing to face the charges against him.
Alias Joshua, meanwhile, has been taken in by the police in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.
Police are still searching for Alias Mamo and Jonel, but are weighing their options with regard to the 14-year-old suspect, Alias Nano.
Police Senior Supt. Jemar Mondequilo, said,”dalawa na lang; ‘yun nga actually ang tinitingnan natin how we can have these two under our custody.”
Genevie Remicio said, on learning of the arrest of the two suspects, “sobrang tuwa ko po dahil uusad po ang kaso ng anak ko [I’m overjoyed because my son’s case will now move forward].”
