MANILA, Philippines — The mother of a 14-year-old boy who has gone missing since August 18 and was last seen with another 19-year-old teenager, who was later found dead in Caloocan, is seeking help in finding her son.
“Nakakapagod din kasi. Sayang pagod ko, uuwi ako wala naman anak ko. ‘Di ako makakain o makatulog.’Di ko alam kung patay na ba siya o buhay pa,” said Lina Gabriel in a recent interview with News5.
[It’s already tiring. My efforts are futile, I go home and my son isn’t there. I can neither eat nor sleep. I don’t know if he is already dead or still alive.]
Gabriel’s son, Reynaldo de Guzman, went out with Carl Angelo Arnaiz last August 17 to buy midnight snack in a store near the two teenagers’ residences in Brgy. San Andres, Cainta, Rizal, according to Arnaiz’s parents.
Last August 28, Arnaiz’s remains were found in a dark, grassy area along C-3 Road in Caloocan City.
According to the autopsy report by forensic experts from the Public Attorney’s Office, Arnaiz’s body bore signs of torture such as deep bruises severely distended eyes, and shackle marks in his right hand.
Arnaiz was shot five times — four in the chest and one in the right arm, the same autopsy report stated.

According to Gabriel, her son and Arnaiz were not close friends but just acquaintances.
