20 M16s seized, 2 suspected rebels captured in Kidapawan

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Authorities seized 20 M16 assault rifles and arrested two suspected members of the New People’s Army during an operation in Kidapawan City early Friday morning.

Colonel Roberto Ancan, commander of the Army’s 1002nd Brigade, said the weapons cache, concealed in two drums, was found in Barangay Katipunan past midnight by a joint patrol of police and troops of the 39th Infantry Battalion.

He identified the arrested suspects as Wowia Boton and George Cuyo.
