ZAMBOANGA CITY — The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group filed murder charges against two policemen for the killing in Zamboanga del Sur of a soldier who had fought in Marawi City.

Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-9 information officer, said the complaint against Police Officer 2 Ronald Zeros and PO1 Michael Bulanday, both of the Aurora municipal police, was filed Tuesday at the Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Prosecutor’s Office.

The two were tagged in the August 23 death of Corporal Rodilo Bartolome of the Army’s 53rd Infantry Battalion, which has been in Marawi since May.

Bartolome was waiting for a ride home to visit his family in Barangay Kanipay in Midsalip town when he was shot dead in Barangay Monte Alegre, Aurora.

The two policemen earlier said they were checking the reported presence of a gunman.
