Findings of the autopsy conducted by the Philippine National Police (PNP) crime laboratory do not completely align with the earlier forensic examination by the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO).
Whereas the PAO examination indicated there were three fatal gunshot wounds (two on the head and one on the trunk of the body), the PNP autopsy report mentioned just two – the ones fired to the head.
Another salient PNP finding was that the gunshot wounds were inflicted NOT from a weapon fired at close range, which veered from that of PAO.
Nevertheless, the PNP Internal Affairs noted certain actions by the police officers implicated in the incident that were not in accordance with prescribed procedures, such as late coordination with the barangay authorities who have jurisdiction over the place of incident, and failure to submit an after-action report, among others, as well as not wearing uniform, not using handcuffs during the arrest, and not bringing their subject to the official prowl car.
