WATCH | Ex-journalist Mike Marasigan and brother shot dead in San Juan

Former journalist Mike Marasigan

(UPDATE 2 – 10:50 p.m, August 4, 2017) Mike D. Marasigan, former editor at BusinessWorld and noted public relations person, and his brother Christopher, were shot dead in San Juan Thursday night by motorcycle-mounted hit men.

At the time of his death, he was a communications consultant for Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez, who confirmed this in a statement calling on police to hunt down the Marasigan brothers’ killers and prosecute them “to the fullest extent of the law.”

According to an initial police report from the Eastern Police District, the two victims were on board a Mazda CX5 van when they were approached and shot by the assailants near the junction of Barcelona and V. Cruz.

Mike Marasigan reportedly died on the spot while Christopher expired at San Juan Medical Hospital, where he was brought by responders.

“Mike, who always had a kind word to everyone he meets, was a highly respected journalist and public relations man,” Dominguez said. “As my communications consultant, he was always prompt, thorough and very good at what he did, which was to assist the DOF in relaying its key messages and programs to the public.”
