MANILA, Philippines — Leaders of both houses of Congress met on Wednesday to agree on measures they will prioritize for passage, including the priorities of each chamber and those the executive considers urgent.
In his second state of the nation address Monday, President Rodrigo Duterte asked Congress to pass the comprehensive tax reform measure to help fund the administration’s massive infrastructure projects and other programs.
The bill has been approved on final reading by the House, but remains at the committee level in the Senate.
At the meeting were House Majority Leader Rodolfo Fariñas, Senate President Aquilino Pimentel III, Senators Ralph Recto, Franklin Drilon and Vicente Sotto III, Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, Minority Leader Danilo Suarez, and Representatives Dakila Cua and Sherwin Tugna.
