MANILA, Philippines – Elvin Juna, the primary suspect in the rape-slay of Samal Island (Igacos), Davao del Norte beauty titlist Kimberly Boston Autida was killed Monday, July 24, after he allegedly tried to wrestle a gun from a policeman.

According to Supt. Noel Asumen, the police chief of Igacos, authorities were supposed to bring the 20-year-old Juna to a hospital after the latter complained of stomachache when the handcuffed suspect tried to take the gun of his escort, prompting operatives to shoot him in the head.

Recovered from Juna was a wire that he allegedly used to unlock his shackles.

Before his death, Juna, a laborer and resident of Barangay Adecor, Kaputian District, admitted to raping and killing his 19-year-old neighbor Autida, who last year was crowned 4th runner up in the Binibining Igacos pageant.

The victim was a third year student at the University of Southeastern Philippines-Mintal Campus taking up Bachelor of Science in Community Development.
