President Rodrigo Duterte apologized to residents of Leyte on Thursday, admitting that the continuing crisis in Marawi had prevented him from visiting the Eastern Visayan province until a week after it was rocked by a 6.5 magnitude earthquake.
“Our apologies for our physical absence,” Duterte said in Ormoc City, where he held a Cabinet meeting.
“You know we are also having a serious problem in Mindanao and in the priority of things I think we had to focus first our attention sa (on) Marawi,” he said.
