SAN JOSE CITY, Nueva Ecija — A man tagged as the eighth most wanted criminal in the Cagayan Valley was killed in what police said was a shootout with officers out to serve him an arrest warrant early Thursday in Barangay Pinili, San Jose City, Nueva Ecija.

City police chief, Superintendent Reynaldo Dela Cruz, said Lito Magdangal, 38, was wanted for a murder case filed before Regional Trial Court Branch 18 in Ilagan, Isabela.

Dela Cruz also linked him to a series of robberies in San Jose City and nearby municipalities, including a recent heist where he was captured on closed circuit television.

Police recovered a .45 caliber pistol and three small sachets of crystal meth or shabu, as well as a gold bracelet belonging to one of Magdangal’s recent victims.
