MANILA – Cebu Pacific Air on Friday advised people travelling from NAIA 3 to allot extra time for security checks, which were heightened following the shooting and fire at midnight at Resorts World Manila just across the airport.

The leading carrier also expressed deep regret over the tragedy, which left 37 people dead, including the lone gunman. Most of the deaths were caused by suffocation and smoke inhalation, after the perpetrator doused gasoline on gaming tables and the carpets at the casino area at the second floor.

Cebu Pacific also gave travelers options in case they were booked for flights for Friday (June 2):

In a statement, it said: “We would like to inform guests travelling to/from Manila today that the following options are available to them:
• Rebook for free within 30 days;
• Get a full refund
• Place the full cost of the ticket in a travel fund for future use.

Affected passengers are advised to contact our hotline, 702-0888 to make arrangements. They may also message the official Cebu Pacific Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/ cebupacificair) or Twitter (@CebuPacificAir) accounts.

We also advise guests intending to travel today (Friday) to allot additional time for check-in and processing at the airport due to heightened security. Please note that some Cebu Pacific flights have been delayed or cancelled as a result of this morning’s incident. Passengers who are affected by these cancelled flights who wish to continue their journey will be rebooked on the first available flights.
