MANILA – No casualties were reported, but engineering and safety teams from the Manila city government are checking on structures that may have sustained damage following a magnitude 5.4 earthquake Thursday night that originated west of San Marcelino, Zambales.
The temblor was clocked at 10:27 pm by Phivolcs. It was felt in Metro Manila and parts of Tarlac and Batangas.
In the capital city, workers doing late duty, including journalists at the Manila Police District on UN Avenue, as well as students in dormitories, felt the tremor and some filed out into the streets.
Phivolcs said the earthquake was felt at:
Intensity IV in Quezon City and Pateros;
Intensity III in Tagaytay and Talisay, Batangas; San Jose del Monte Bulacan; and the cities of Pasay, Makati, Mandaluyong, Manila, Paranaque and Taguig; san Miguel Tarlac and Marilao, Bulacan;
Intensity II in Palayan City, Bacoor in Cavite; and San Jacinto in Pangasinan.
The Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Monitoring Office reported no casualties and serious property damage until press time.
