MANILA – The former lawyer of Janet Lim Napoles went to the Department of Justice on Monday but this time, it was not on behalf of the pork barrel scam queen: he went there with a woman whom Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV had claimed would link President Duterte to the Davao Death Squad.
Atty. Bruce Rivera, a Duterte supporter, met with Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre on the case of businesswoman Guillermina Arcillas.
The Davao-based Arcillas had claimed the Trillanes camp had tried to bribe and coerce her to implicate Duterte in the Davao Death Squad.
Arcillas insisted the “opposition” had forged her signature in her affidavit. Sen. Leila de Lima supposedly knows about this.
Rivera said Arcillas wants Aguirre’s help to file a case against Trillanes. According to Rivera, the DOJ is now working on a case build-up.
Aguirre also offered to enrol Arcillas in the DOJ’s Witness Protection Program but she declined this, Rivera said.
Security is not a problem for Arcillas because she is based in Davao, said Rivera.
Nonetheless, Arcillas claimed there had been threats on her life since she spoke up against Trillanes.
She believes Trillanes is behind the threats against her, and is lying low and has changed her phone numbers.
The businesswoman is filing a case only now, several weeks after, because she wanted to get a secure line to Duterte.
