MANILA, Philippines – Former senator Jinggoy Estrada has asked the anti-graft court to allow him to undergo medical treatment at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan, Metro Manila.

In his two-page urgent motion, Estrada, who has been detained at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center in Camp Crame, Quezon City since June 2014, told the Sandiganbayan that he had been experiencing extreme pain in his right shoulder that needed “immediate hospital examination.”

Estrada added that he had been feeling the pain since April 2016 and that it had become severe lately. He said his condition was diagnosed by Dr. Tyrone Reyes in 2014, which was also the time that he underwent therapy session at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center.

Last April, the former lawmaker was allowed by the anti-graft court to attend his father’s birthday party at the Manila Hotel.

Estrada is accused of committing plunder for allegedly amassing P183.79 million from his Priority Development Assistance Fund allocations from 2004 to 2010, which he denies.

His plunder trial before the Sandiganbayan is scheduled on June 19, 2017.
