American citizen David Timothy Deakin caught by NBI agents at his house in Angeles City, Pampanga

MANILA, Philippines – Authorities discovered what could have been the darkest corner of the Internet when they went to the house of 53-year-old American David Timothy Deakin in Angeles City, Pampanga.

Inside the room of the suspected cybersex operator were computers and stacks of hard drives believed to have been used by Deakin in exploiting Filipino children by selling their sex videos, images, and livestreams.

Besides electronic gadgets, other paraphernalia that would complete the crime were also found in his two-bedroom townhouse such as bondage cuffs, children’s clothing, sex toys and costumes, toddler shoes, fetish ropes, lubricants, and pipe believed to have been used for smoking meth.

Lawyer Hazel Roxas of the National Bureau of Investigation’s Anti-Human Trafficking Division said authorities were able to locate Deakin after the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) reported that it had monitored an American citizen via the Internet engaging in illicit conduct with girls and exchanging pornographic materials.

She said the FBI was also able to record payments being allegedly transferred online by clients worldwide to Deakin’s account for sex shows made available via online streaming.

Deakin denied the allegations.

“I make 30 dollars an hour, why would I try to sell videos for frigid peanuts? They brought in box of sex toys I’ve never seen,” Deakin said, adding that the only videos he had was with his girlfriend.

He also denied molesting children. “There’s no proof. That’s chatting. That’s bullshit talk.”

But authorities found out that the woman being referred to by Deakin was only 15 years old when she became his girlfriend. The woman tested positive for drug use. Deakin came from Peoria Illinois and has been living in the Philippines for the past 17 years. His passport was cancelled in 2009.

A string of charges will be slapped on Deakin, including violations of the following laws: Anti-Child Pornography Act of 2012, Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, Anti-Trafficking Law, Special Protection Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act, and Cyberprevention Act.
