Taxi driver returns cash and shabu
Taxi driver (with face concealed) at News5 broadcast with ranking metropolitan police officials after handing over a stash of cash, shabu, jewelry and stolen electronic gadgets.

A taxi cab driver, who shall be known for now as “Jojo”, turned over a huge stash of cash and packets of shabu (pulverized methamphetamine chloride crystals) on Monday that a drug-dealing suspect hurriedly left behind after a law enforcement bust in Quezon City.

Jojo had picked up two passengers, a male and a female, who were accosted by law enforcers before dawn Saturday last week.

The two were forced out of the taxi cab, and a terrified Jojo promptly drove away from the scene out of fear for his safety.

Later, he was to find out that the two passengers had left behind in the rear passenger seat a huge bulging bag.

Jojo took a peek and saw piles of money and tin cans containing powdery substances, among other stuff, and knew what he must do.

He brought the bag to TV5 studios and turned over the content to the WANTED SA RADYO SINGKO program anchored by Raffy Tulfo.

Arrangements were made in coordination with the Mandaluyong Police, the National Capital Region Police Office, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for follow-up action.

Further scrutiny revealed that the bag also contained a balisong fan knife, jewelry, and electronic gadgets that may have been stolen.

NCRPO Director Oscar Albayalde confirmed to the mid-day news broadcast, AKSYON SA TANGHALI that Jojo had unwittingly gotten himself entangled in a drug bust, which had resulted in the arrest of a live-in couple, Felicidad Colis, 42, and 25-year old Ralph Anthony Roxas.

The content of the bag recovered from Jojo was valued at an estimated P500,000 to more than P1 million, even as the police readied charges of violating the Dangerous Drugs Act against the couple, plus three others in what was described as a “one-time big time” drug bust.

NCRPO officials said they would provide Jojo and his family assistance and protection in the interest of their safety.
