MANILA, Philippines – Critics of Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo, mostly composed of lawyers, professors and social media users, will file an impeachment complaint against her on May 2, Tuesday.
Lawyer Trixie Angeles said she will file the complaint together with lawyers Bruce Rivera, Ahmed Paglinawan, Tom Berenguer, professor Antonio Contreras and Interior and Local Government Assistant Secretary Epimaco Densing III.
The complaint is to be filed at 1 p.m. at the House of Representatives, according to a disclosure on the Facebook page “Impeach Leni Movement.”
In an earlier news conference, the group said Robredo betrayed public trust with her video message aired during a meeting of the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs, in which she spoke about thousands of lives claimed by the Duterte administration’s war on drugs.
An impeachment complaint against Robredo was earlier filed by lawyer Oliver Lozano and Melchor Chavez, but it has no endorser yet from among the members of the House of Representatives.
