MANILA, Philippines – Philippine National Police chief Gen. Ronald dela Rosa has ordered the termination from the PNP service of a female Davao-based police officer, who allegedly went to Clarin, Bohol to rescue members of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG).

On Monday, Dela Rosa confirmed that Maria Cristina Nobleza, deputy regional chief of the PNP Crime Laboratory in Region 11 and a Balik-Islam member, was the girlfriend of a man with links to the ASG, who was her driver when she went to Bohol.

Nobleza was with Reenor Lou Dungon, said to be a relative of slain ASG leader and founder Abdurajik Abubakar Janjalani, when their black Nissan Navara pickup drove past a police checkpoint in Brgy. Bacani, Clarin, Bohol Saturday night, April 22, the same time when members of the terror group were being pursued by authorities.

“She ignored the checkpoint. Nalaman na policewoman bakit ka umiiwas? So suspek kaagad siya. Initially this is what we come up with. She is also a Balik-Islam (member),” the PNP chief said.

Nobleza denied the allegations and said that she was in Bohol for a vacation.

But Dela Rosa said it appeared that Nobleza, former member of the PNP Anti-Illegal Drugs Group, was “sleeping with the enemy” and that he wanted the “high risk” police officer imprisoned at Camp Crame in Quezon City.

He said administrative and criminal charges would be slapped on Nobleza and he would make sure that she would get fired.

“Kung whatever sanction ‘yon, kakasuhan natin siya ng criminal and administrative (charges). Siguradong tanggal sa serbisyo. She is literally sleeping with the enemy.”

Nobleza and Dungon were arrested last Saturday in Sitio Kabakasan, Brgy. Bacani in Clarin, Bohol and were moved to Tagbilaran City, Chief Supt. Noli Taliño, Central Visayas regional police director, said Monday.

The two were with an old woman and a 13-year-old minor when they were intercepted by authorities.

On Monday, Dela Rosa said the old woman was the mother-in-law of Janjalani and also of slain Malaysian terrorist Zulkifli bin Hir alias Marwan and Jainal Antel Sali – also known as Abu Sulaiman.

The 13-year-old minor is the child of a leader of the Raja Sulayman Group jailed in Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicuitam, Taguig City, according to the PNP chief.

Kasama niya mother-in-law ni Marwan, mother-in-law ni Janjalani, mother-in-law ni Abu Sulaiman, 13-year-old na anak (ng) Raja Sulayman Group (member) na nakakulong sa Bicutan,” said Dela Rosa.
