PBA legend Jimmy Alapag just landed his first head coaching gig as the ASEAN Basketball League’s Alab Pilipinas tapped “The Mighty Mouse” to steer the club next season.

Alapag will be taking over the Ray Parks-led squad which bowed out of the semifinals in its debut stint this year.

“[I’m very excited] for the upcoming season,” Alapag said.

“For this to be my first head coaching experience, I’m looking forward to the challenge. I know [that it will be very difficult] with the preparations for the upcoming season. Again, I’m used to working hard. That’s the norm for me. I’m just looking forward to the upcoming season and bringing the championship to Alab Pilipinas.”

A former PBA MVP and national team player, Alapag currently serves an assistant coach for Gilas Pilipinas and the Meralco Bolts. He announced his retirement last year after winning six titles with TNT and playing 13 seasons in the PBA.
