Eastwood City once again plays host to the first ever Pet Blessing in the country on Sunday, October 1, at the Eastwood Mall Open Park.

First held in 2004, the event has been drawing more than a hundred pet owners not just from the area but from other areas in the metro as well.

The ceremony starts with a procession within Eastwood City and is proceeded by a Holy mass in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals, whose feast day is celebrated on that date. After the Mass, the celebrator presides the blessing of each pet present at the ceremony.

Besides the ceremony, the event also include booths for vet consultations and a grooming stations. There will also be a Pet Fair, a Pet Buffet, a Costume Contest, Pet Playgrounds, Games and Raffle Draws prepared all in honor of our furry friends.

Among the highlights include special awards to be give out to nominated pets like the Early Bird Award for the first to register, Best Dressed Award for the most stylish, Head Turner Award for the most unique, Life of the Party Award for the most energetic and captivating, and Star of the Night for the most endearing. This year, participants are encouraged to bring their pets in sports attire to bag special recognition.

Registration and admission to Eastwood City’s Annual Pet Blessing is free of charge. Partakers need only to bring their beloved pet’s latest vaccination papers to secure a pet pass and register for the blessing as early as 11AM, and the parade of pets will commence at 3PM.

Furthermore, the Philippine Coast Guard K9 Unit and celebrity, Gerald Anderson, will be making a second appearance during the blessing ceremony again this year. They will elevate awareness on the significant role of service dogs. Following the advocacy of the actor’s non-profit organization, the Gerald Anderson Foundation will help add mindfulness on what service dogs go through for rescue and therapy.
