MANILA, Philippines — Five people were killed while 11 others were hurt on Wednesday when the jeep they were riding rammed into an electrical post on Centennial Road in Kawit, Cavite.

Chief Inspector Jeffrey Punzalan, chief of Kawit Police Station, said the jeep, with plate number DVK-813, came from Zapote, Las Piñas City and was on its way to Tanza, Cavite when the incident took place at about 6 a.m., according to a report by dzMM radio.

The impact of the crash caused the vehicle’s front to flatten and the windshield to break and get detached, leaving the passengers trapped inside the jeep, which got littered with boxes of pizzas that were supposed to be delivered to a store by one of the victims.

The casualties, including the driver, were rushed to the Kawit Kalayaan Hospital and Divine Grace Medical Center in General Trias, Cavite.
